Didn’t realize that this was an old John Belushi skit on Saturday Night Live. Then I remembered that’s where I saw this imagery. Killer Bees -”they’re desparate, they’re banditos”

Posted in Character Sketches, Illustration, Sketches with tags Children's Book Illustration, Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are on March 28, 2009 by Dave MottTribute to Maurice Sendak – I did this sketch a couple years ago, I was always amazed by the illustration of this book. I can’t imagine how many kids read this book and grew up to become artists. I couldn’t read this book enough as a kid, the monsters were so amazing. So glad to see they’re taking it to the big screen.

If I was to design a Rorschach Vinyl toy I’d go this route, not quite a bobblehead but exaggerated. The Comedian is next.
